Irontown’s History
HOW A LEGACY BEGAN…
Irontown Homes and the custom modular philosophy has been in process for over 50 years. Richard Valgardson started moving existing houses with his father around the age of 11. After returning from World War II Richard’s father, Paul Valgardson bought a house moving company and began Valgardson House Movers in Provo, Utah. Being the oldest child Richard began helping his father, learning all of the ins and outs of how a home is built and where the weakness points occur in site construction. After playing football at Brigham Young University he decided to open his own construction company. After many years of success he decided to combine his knowledge of custom site building and the expertise of moving homes and began Valgardson Housing Systems in 1987. As a production modular home factory VHS excelled and produced over 300 homes per year. Richard decided the production modular home industry was overly absorbed and there wasn’t any factory that gave people the option of a high end custom home designed to their every wish. And Irontown Homes was created.
Irontown Homes is a family company with its executives being groomed in the industry as young children just as Richard. Irontown prides it’s self in being a caring company who truly enjoys building a relationship with your family while building your families dream home.
Irontown Homes has specialized in factory built custom homes that allow the customer to design their floor plan and every detail included. Irontown services all of the Western United States and specializes in the high density California areas. With their own in-house transportation company, set crew and stitch crews you can feel confident that Irontown will take the project from start to finish. It’s comforting to know that the same people who built the home in the factory will complete the home on-site. This leaves no room for surprises on site and conflicts between your site contractor and the factory, costing the homeowner money, time and headache.
To complete the journey Irontown has recently finished their new state of the art facility. We have constructed this facility to implement the highest level of productivity. With our new facility we have streamlined the building process increasing the construction speed and delivering enormous cost savings to our customers. We are very different from other factories because we do not have a “production line” assembly process. Each of our homes are custom designed and require different construction timeframes, so we build each home in one location and bring the “production line” to them. That will guarantee that your project will be built as quickly as possible without any other projects delaying your home’s progress.
Our new facility is over 66,000 square feet. Our production area is over 60,000 square feet which is four times the size of our old facility. With our 45′ tall ceilings and 180′ span of overhead cranes it gives us the ability to build our 2-story structures on top of one another. We erect them exactly as they will sit on your site eliminating any building discrepancies. Our production capacity can handle any project whether you have one modular to build, a 200 home subdivision or a hotel.
